Old appliances, furniture, carpet, tree and brush/limbs are considered solid waste goods and are available for collection on a bi-weekly basis. The Street Department is now on a route that takes them through each area of town so it is no longer necessary for you to call to arrange pick-up.
The street department does not pickup items containing asbestos or pressure chemically treated wood and building supplies. Items should be placed on your own property at the alley or street curb, not on public right of way or in a drainage ditch.
Leaves and grass clipping may be bagged. Contractors and landscaping businesses are required to remove their clients’ materials per city ordinance.
The City of Guntersville does not have a landfill that is open to the public. Those needing to dispose of items not accepted by the Street Department pick-up should contact the Arab Landfill at (256) 586-2666 or the Albertville Transfer Station (256) 891-2944. For more information about city services, call (256) 571-7598.
