The Guntersville Municpal Airport – Joe Starnes Field(8A1) is located 3 miles North of the city at 405 Buck Island Road. The new airport has a 5,005 runway, 07/25 with a GPS RNAV Approach to Runway 25 to be implemented on April 27, 2017. The interim airport office is located in the northeast corner of the eastern most “T” hangar. The airport also operates the “Aviation Center” located in the old museum complex on Highway 431 North of the Mapco Gas Station.
The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) & Civil Air Patrol (CAP) meet in the Aviation Center regularly and this is the home of the 2nd Saturday EAA breakfast that is staffed by the CAP and local scout groups.
